Applications and parameters

MilkoScan™ FT120 is intended for analysis of raw milk, intermediates and final products in the dairy. The instrument can be used to ensure correct payments to producers, high product quality and optimal use of intermediate products.

Ready to use calibrations

Reduce the need for start-up calibration samples from 50-100 to typically 10. This unique concept is only possible due to the patented FOSS standardisation method.

Raw and processed milk

Accurate analysis of fat and protein can be used for optimal use of raw material when standardising drinking milk, cheese milk and processed milk.

The composition of raw milk may be analysed for producer payment or for assessment of the qualities of raw material in the production. MilkoScan FT120 can determine fat, protein, lactose, solids as well as casein, urea, total acidity, free fatty acids, density and freezing point depression in raw milk. An improved milk calibration is available with increased seasonal stability.

Cream

Fat, protein, lactose and solids can be determined in cream for standardisation and inter-dairy trading.

Whey and whey concentrates

The content of fat, protein, lactose, solids and acidity in raw whey and concentrated whey can be analysed to monitor process operation or for inter-dairy trading. With the pH-independent whey calibration, the interference from lactic acid is removed.

Yoghurt and other fermented products

For quality control and production optimisation dedicated calibrations have been developed for determination of fat, protein, solids, lactic acid and specific sugars in fermented milk products.

Ice cream mixes and desserts

For optimisation of production batches and for quality control of final products analysis of ice cream mixes and dessert composition is an important tool. The analysis of ice cream mixes and desserts is especially complex since a wide range of additives is used. To accomplish the analysis without excessive development effort, the FOSS ready to use calibration for milk based ice cream mixes and desserts is available. The calibration includes fat, protein, solids, and specific sugars.

A calibration for ice cream mixes and desserts with added vegetable fat is also available for fat, protein and total solids.

Other products

Apart from the abovementioned products ready to use calibrations are also available for milk concentrates, cheese, infant formula blends, liquid sugars and fruit juice.

Pattern recognition

Faulty production batches can be identified by using the optional quality assurance module. With this the characteristics of a product can be recognised, based on principal component analysis, and products not matching these expected characteristics will be flagged.
